Didn't expect my hamster to actually use both sides, but he flips between them depending on the room temp. The plush side is holding up well after a few weeks and the synthetic material hasn't shed at all.

My hamster curls up in the plush side every night, and switching to the cooler fabric for summer was so easy.

The plush side is genuinely soft and my dwarf hamster burrows right into it on cold nights. Flipping it to the cooler side for summer works fine, though the seams could be a bit sturdier since he chews at the edges.
